Eagle Ridge was a good 8 - 10km hike from the road, with tents and all our equipment. As we set off, the weather was good, and the walking beautiful. First going through woods, then out onto open trails. Graham was struggling a bit, and set a slow pace...which was also very welcome. I didn't feel any of the aches or pains which are the normal cornerstone of climbing trips for me (I'm not normally very fit), but I didn't feel any need to hurry either.
As we hiked higher into the mountains, leaving the normal trails behind, the weather closed in and it got noticeably colder. It also started to rain. None of this really bothered us, as these were the conditions we had been working in for the last few days. It was Scotland after all.
